Prince Edward Island
Brewing Company
The story of PEI Brewing Company started back in 1997, when Kevin
Murphy first formed Murphy’s Brewing company which was located in
the Lone Star Cafe on University Avenue. Then, as local beer started
to gain traction, Murphy decided to relocate the brewery to Gahan
House in the year 2000 to accommodate for increased production.
Finally, after multiple successful products, the company relocated to
Kensington Road, Charlottetown, and released their first canned beer
in 2013. This has been their location of operation till this day and
has since become somewhat of a tourist attraction.
Today, their products can be found all over the province and even in
other provinces as well! Their beers are available in their own
stores such as The Gahan House Pub located on Sydney Street, The
Gahan Beer Store situated at the Atlantic Superstore, The PEI Brewing
Company Beer Station that resides in Cornwall, and even at any PEI
Liquor Commission outlets or fancy liquor shops and establishments
across the Prince Edward Islands. Their beer is also available in
specific locations in Brunswick, Newfoundland, Ontario, Nova Scotia,
and even Alberta!
The Prince Edward Island Brewing Company is very much connected to
its locality and actively engages with its community. They have been
observed to support events such as the QEH Yuletide Gala Auction,
Lawn Summer Nights: Bowl to Cure Cystic Fibrosis, National Disc Golf
Championships, Maritime 8 Ball Championships, Self-Love Saturday,
community fundraisers and youth sports teams very frequently!
The brewing center incorporates some of the most modern technologies
available in the brewing industry and is open for public visitation.
